Manager of Music Theatre and Opera Production

About the role

The Manager of Music Theatre and Opera Productions collaborates with the music theatre and opera faculty and staff to coordinate, build, and ensure readiness of all scenic elements for productions. They also manage technical elements including lighting, sound, equipment, and stage management.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all technical aspects of stage productions, including lighting, sound, equipment, and stage management.
• Construct scenery, manage props, oversee inventories, maintain facilities and equipment, and purchase necessary materials for productions.
• Assist in overseeing the work of supporting staff, contractors, students in scenic, property construction, paint, lighting, sound, media, and stage management.
• Teach production classes as part of the role.
• Work flexible hours to meet the needs of the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Theatre, Fine Arts, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in theatrical production, preferably in music theatre and opera.
• Experience with scenic construction, prop management, and stage management.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work effectively with a team and independently.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in using stage management software and other production tools.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and health and safety practices in theatrical settings.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Skills

• Scenic construction and design skills.
• Sound and lighting technology knowledge.
• Stage management experience.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Pay

$48,600 - $52,000; depends on experience within posted range.
