Manager of Healthcare Engineering

About the role
This position is based in Pittsburgh and reports to the Regional Director. The Manager of Healthcare will lead the Healthcare group, providing technical expertise, supervising staff, and ensuring successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Leads weekly Healthcare group meetings to discuss production and workshare.
- Attends OEC weekly meetings to discuss production and workshare.
- Resolves department conflicts or issues and distribution of workload.
- Reviews time sheets and ensures accurate reporting of their direct reports’ time.
- Forecasts monthly utilization and assists with proposal development.
- Works with Project Managers throughout the company to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects.
- Supervises the group in carrying out plans, programs, and services while providing technical expertise on projects.
- Prepares proposals and administers project contracts, including Add Service Agreements.
- Staffs the department, including developing backlogs and manpower forecasts, managing project budgets, working with HR to review resumes/interview candidates, completing and submitting new hire documents to IT, and assisting with new employee orientations.
- Enforces company procedures and policy with HR’s help and performs annual employee reviews.
- Assists in the development and support of department philosophy and organizes educational seminars.
- Provides developmental goals for each direct report that are achievable, pertinent to their growth, and timely.
- Provides positive team leadership to cultivate a professional environment.
- Keeps abreast of new technologies, evidence-based design, code developments, and energy efficiency strategies to lead in healthcare design.
- Aids in developing a structured mentoring process for healthcare engineers and team members.
- Actively participates in Osborn’s QA/QC process for design.
- Leads and/or works on several projects concurrently.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience focused on engineering and facilities design and/or actively managed the operation and construction of healthcare facilities.
- Strong knowledge and application of NFPA 99, 101, and the most recent version of the Facilities Guideline Institute (FGI), including ASHRAE 170, Ventilation for Healthcare Facilities.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Joint Commission standards and the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare (CMS) for healthcare as it relates to accreditation standards for healthcare owners.
- Strong leadership capabilities in leading a team of highly trained personnel to create a comprehensive, integrated work team.
- Ability to instruct staff in project management, project communications, and client management.
