Manager of Geographic Information Services (GIS) - RPU - Rochester

About the role

This position manages the GIS Section at Rochester Public Utilities, overseeing enterprise GIS systems, Property Rights, Land Survey, and Drafting functions for both the Electric and Water Utilities divisions.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the management and maintenance of enterprise GIS systems.
• Directs the work of staff and consultants.
• Serves as the primary point of contact for GIS-related issues and projects.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Geography, Geology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS management or a closely related field.
• Experience with enterprise GIS software and database management.
• Strong leadership and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions based on data analysis.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS.
• Knowledge of property rights and land surveying principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.

Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Remote work is possible up to two days per week after the initial 6-month probationary period.
