About the Role

Serves as a Geospatial Information System (GIS) subject matter expert and program administrator. Identifies requirements and implements advanced analytical techniques to solve complex GIS issues. Provides technical services, training, and develops applications/databases for installation personnel authorized to use GIS. Serves as the senior specialist on Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying and as the primary point of contact and coordination on all matters related to Mapping/Surveying. Updates and maintains installation maps, gathering data from surveys, both visual and physical, and real property data.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the installation's comprehensive GIS program and related mapping systems.
  • Independently develop, update, and manage crucial geospatial data products supporting installation operations and engineering.
  • Create high-accuracy installation maps, utility system layouts, and official real estate exhibits using advanced GPS surveying, complex data integration, and technical validation during construction acceptances.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires a secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level, including administering GIS programs, developing geospatial data products, and utilizing GPS surveying and data integration.
  • If qualifying based on education, transcripts will be required as part of your application.

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

  • This position requires a 1-year probationary period.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations.
  • Recruitment and relocation incentives may be authorized.
  • Student loan repayment may be authorized.
  • Salary negotiation may be available for candidates new to Federal service.
  • Defense National Relocation Program (DNRP) will not be authorized.
  • Further certification from this announcement may take place up to 90 days beyond the closing date.
