About the role

The Sioux Falls Stampede is a Tier I junior hockey team competing in the United States Hockey League (USHL), North America’s premier junior hockey league. A four-time Clark Cup Champion and multiple-time USHL Organization of the Year recipient, the Stampede consistently ranks among the leaders in attendance across junior, collegiate, and minor professional hockey. The team plays its home games at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center, averages 5,300 fans per game, and has helped develop more than 40 players who have advanced to the NHL.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Digital Media & Content Creation
    • Create engaging, informative, and entertaining content that reflects the Stampede brand.
    • Stay current on digital trends, platform updates, and best practices to ensure content remains innovative and relevant.
    • Maintain consistency in visual identity and brand standards across all platforms.
  • Graphic Design & Creative Services
    • Design high-quality, on-brand graphics using Adobe Creative Suite for social media, digital advertising, in-arena displays, sponsorship materials, print collateral, schedules, and other organizational needs.
    • Capture content during games, practices, community events, and team activities.
  • Video Production
    • Produce, edit, and distribute video content, including game highlights, player and coach interviews, feature stories, promotional campaigns, and sponsorship activations.
    • Aid in the development of creative video concepts that enhance fan engagement and storytelling.
  • Media Relations & Communications
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the organization, media outlets, the USHL, and other stakeholders.
    • Update Stampede website and mobile app with latest stories, advertisements, etc.
    • Write and distribute press releases, game recaps, feature stories, media advisories, and other communications materials.
    • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media requests involving players, coaches, and team personnel.
  • Marketing & Revenue Support
    • Assist in the planning and execution of email marketing campaigns, promotional initiatives, and digital advertising efforts.
    • Help develop sponsor-integrated digital campaigns and support partnership activation strategies.
    • Collaborate on sponsorship proposals and presentations when needed.
  • Game Day Operations
    • Support all home game communications and content initiatives.
    • Assist with FloHockey broadcasts, line charts, statistical reporting, and other game-day responsibilities.
    • Provide real-time social media coverage and content creation during games.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, creative, and highly organized professional with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience creating professional graphics using Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and developing digital content strategies.
  • Knowledge of video production, photography, and content creation best practices.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and non-traditional hours throughout the hockey season.
  • Passion for sports, storytelling, and fan engagement preferred.
  • Experience in sports communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field preferred.
