About the role
The Benefits Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs. This role ensures compliance, data integrity, financial accuracy, and effective employee support while collaborating with various internal teams and external partners. The position is critical to maintaining streamlined benefit operations and enhancing employee experience during benefits enrollment, leave management, and organizational changes.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain the employee benefits programs through ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage all aspects of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, voluntary benefits, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans.
- Process benefit elections, life events, new hires, transfers, and terminations in line with eligibility criteria.
- Audit payroll deductions and carrier invoices to ensure accurate premium billing.
- Coordinate benefit eligibility audits and maintain accurate benefit data.
- Manage relationships with carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and vendors.
- Lead annual open enrollment activities including system configuration and employee communications.
- Support annual benefit renewals through plan evaluation and cost analysis.
- Assist benefits-related activities during mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and system integration.
- Oversee leave of absence administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, disability, workers' compensation, and state leave programs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable benefits and leave regulations such as ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section 125, and FMLA.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and filings.
- Support internal and external audits related to benefits.
- Develop reports and dashboards on enrollment, compliance, and benefit costs.
- Provide employee support and education regarding benefit programs and processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five to seven years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration, preferably across multiple states.
- CEBS or CBP certifications preferred.
- Experience as a primary administrator of benefits using ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS.
- Experience supporting benefits integration during mergers and acquisitions.
- Strong knowledge of ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, Section 125, ADA, and other relevant regulations.
- Experience administering disability and leave programs with third-party administrators.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
