Manager Nursing Unit - Labor & Delivery

About the role

The Manager Nursing Unit oversees the operations of specific nursing units, guiding and supporting nursing staff, ensuring high-quality patient care, and collaborating with other leaders and team members to maintain an efficient and effective operation.

Responsibilities

• Guides and supports nursing staff in providing high-quality patient care.
• Ensures compliance with Performance Improvement and Quality Improvement initiatives.
• Manages throughput efficiencies and staffing patterns.
• Maintains budget management for the unit.
• Collaborates with other leaders and team members to ensure efficient operation.
• Leads through strategic management, relationship management, and influencing positive behaviors.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related graduate level degree preferred.
• Minimum Work Experience: 5 years' experience in nursing in a hospital setting, with 2 years of charge or leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed in the State of Vermont as an RN.
• BLS Certification through the American Heart Association.
• Unit-specific certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, EFM, and STABLE as required based on departmental clinical needs.
• Completion of an endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification based on department-specific guidelines.

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

• Strong knowledge and skills related to clinical nursing practice.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education as a method for promoting continuous quality improvement in patient care and services.
• Effective and timely oral and written communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft desktop application and navigation skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial aspects of department operations, including budget, expenses, variances, etc.

Pay

Annualized Salary Range: $107K - $156K
