About the role

This position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents on the assigned floors. The Manager Nurse supervises CNAs and HHAs in delivering planned resident care, maintains a safe and therapeutic environment, and directs and supervises assigned personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care to assigned residents based on established nursing protocol.
  • Observe and assess for pain/discomfort, oxygen therapy, drainage, dressings, and incontinent elimination.
  • Conduct systematic assessment of residents' physical, emotional, social, educational, and functional needs through observation, interview, and examination.
  • Interpret assessment data to develop a plan of care.
  • Transcribe and process medical orders accurately and timely, integrating them into nursing care.
  • Administer medication per physician orders, document properly, and observe for adverse reactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation consistent with the resident plan of care.
  • Assemble and maintain resident charts and records, ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
  • Complete monthly summaries for assigned residents in a timely manner.
  • Prepare incident/accident reports as needed, notify relevant parties, and document accordingly.
  • Assist residents in learning self-care activities.
  • Supervise resident assignments to nursing team members and provide special instructions.
  • Observe and supervise meals to ensure proper diet and assistance.
  • Monitor and organize material resources for the assigned unit.
  • Recognize emergencies and initiate appropriate action.
  • Ensure resident call lights are promptly answered and needs addressed.
  • Assist with the orientation of new staff members.
  • Ensure all scheduled activities take place on the assigned unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Nursing; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of nursing experience in a healthcare facility.
  • LPN/LVN or RN license, with a current and active license in the state of the facility.
  • Acceptable fluency in English to perform job duties and communicate effectively.
  • Proficient in clinical techniques such as emergency procedures, skin management, hydration therapy, and other nursing procedures.
  • Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile residents.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff members.
  • Ability/willingness to continue education credits necessary to maintain licensure and certification.
