About the role

This position is responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents on assigned floors. The Manager Nurse supervises Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and Home Health Aides (HHAs) in delivering planned resident care, maintains a safe and therapeutic environment, and directs assigned personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and individualized nursing care based on established nursing protocol.
  • Observe and assess residents for pain, discomfort, oxygen therapy, drainage, dressings, and incontinence.
  • Conduct systematic assessments of residents' physical, emotional, social, educational, and functional needs through observation, interview, and examination.
  • Interpret assessment data to develop and update resident care plans.
  • Transcribe and process medical orders accurately and integrate them into nursing care.
  • Administer medications per physician orders, document properly, and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation consistent with the resident plan of care.
  • Maintain resident charts and records, ensuring all necessary forms are completed.
  • Complete monthly summaries for assigned residents in a timely manner.
  • Prepare incident/accident reports, notify relevant parties, and document accordingly.
  • Assist residents in learning self-care activities.
  • Supervise nursing team members, providing special instructions as needed.
  • Monitor meals to ensure residents receive proper diet and assistance.
  • Organize material resources necessary for the assigned unit.
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies and life-threatening situations.
  • Ensure resident call lights are promptly answered and needs addressed.
  • Assist with the orientation of new staff members.
  • Ensure all scheduled activities take place on the assigned unit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Nursing, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of nursing experience in a healthcare facility.
  • Current and active LPN/LVN or RN license in the state of the community facility.
  • Proficient in clinical techniques, including emergency procedures, skin management, hydration therapy, and other nursing procedures.
  • Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and occasionally hostile residents.
  • Excellent supervisory skills.
  • Willingness to work harmoniously with all staff members.
  • Acceptable fluency in English to perform job duties and communicate effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability and willingness to pursue continuing education credits necessary for licensure and certification.
