Manager, North America Industry Affairs

About the role
The North America Industry Affairs Manager will deliver clear and consistent communications on the company’s corporate business priorities and sustainability actions, aligning with the Corporate Twentyby30 program. This role focuses on translating sustainability commitments into compelling internal and external communications, including producing the Sustainability Report in coordination with the Sustainability Reporting team and other reporting or communication documents.
The Manager will also support North America-focused industry affairs efforts, participating in advocacy that promotes the growth and circularity of aluminum beverage cans, the expansion of food cans, and other Crown & Signode products. The role involves engaging with key regional stakeholders, driving initiatives that position metal as a preferred sustainable packaging solution, and coordinating Corporate Social Engagement activities such as managing the company’s charity giving program and planning sustainability-focused events like World Environment Day.
Additionally, the Manager will provide legislative insight and support to internal stakeholders, monitor policy and market trends impacting Crown’s business and reputation, and maintain relationships with industry associations, government bodies, and NGOs across the U.S. and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver internal and external corporate communications aligned with business priorities and the Corporate Twentyby30 sustainability program, including the annual Sustainability Report and other sustainability documentation (e.g., Climate Transition Plan, Climate or Nature-related Financial Disclosures).
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to create internal and public-facing materials, ensuring consistent corporate messaging across platforms like the corporate website.
- Participate in North America trade associations and industry alliances to support the development of position papers and policy briefings related to aluminum beverage cans, food cans, and other Crown & Signode products.
- Monitor legislative developments in the U.S. and Canada related to packaging, circular economy, and packaging waste policies, anticipating trends that could impact Crown’s business and reputation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry associations (e.g., CMI, CHPR, Aluminum Association), government agencies, and NGOs.
- Provide legislative and policy guidance to internal stakeholders, including Business VPs, Key Account Directors, and Procurement teams.
- Coordinate Corporate Social Engagement activities, including managing the company’s Charitable Giving program and planning employee and external engagement initiatives (e.g., World Environment Day, World Water Day).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master of Business Administration or equivalent diploma preferred.
- Sustainability certification or background is a plus.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in Communications and/or Public Affairs.
- Good understanding of packaging-related business and policy topics; experience within FMCG companies, U.S. institutions, or consultancies is advantageous.
