About the role
As the Nurse Manager of the NICU, you will plan, administer, and evaluate the operations of the unit. You will collaborate with physicians to expedite information and lead, coach, and mentor our skilled NICU staff. We seek someone passionate about creating an environment focused on providing excellent care to patients and their families.
- Model and sustain patient- and family-centered care while directing staff in patient care and family education.
- Manage and coordinate patient care, maintain departmental flow, and direct staff assignments.
- Work with the Director on department staffing, including hiring, evaluating, guiding, disciplining, and scheduling staff.
- Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure.
- Develop and communicate a shared vision for the department consistent with the hospital’s vision.
- Identify staff strengths and weaknesses, and provide training and development accordingly.
- Effectively coordinate functions with staff, physicians, and other hospital departments, focusing on throughput based on patient needs.
Requirements
- Current Utah nursing license in good standing.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
- Maintains certifications: NRP, S.T.A.B.L.E.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in the NICU as a registered nurse, with 2 or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
- Associate’s Degree in nursing required; Bachelor’s degree to be completed within 3 years of hire.
