Job Summary
Aid in leading a team of category merchandisers focused on increasing revenue and margins in specific product categories. The Merchandising Manager assists in developing and executing strategies for each category through vendor/supplier management, product mix, pricing, logistics, and marketing.
Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the team to deliver high-quality category strategies
- Foster teamwork within the department and cultivate a positive team environment
- Assist in strategy development and category financial forecasting with Category Merchandisers
- Make recommendations to management on category improvements
- Participate in strategic supplier meetings with Category Merchandisers
- Support marketing, communication, and promotional activities
- Manage category management activities and projects
- Work closely with the Admin/Project Manager to set priorities, timelines, and results reporting
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPS) and training materials for merchandising
- Manage the supplier rebate table and forecast with accounting
- Coordinate merchandising training programs for the organization
- Transfer knowledge from category management initiatives to improve sales and profitability
- Handle customer service/sales issues as appropriate
- Stay updated on contracts and competitive programs within the supply base
- Work cross-functionally with sales, marketing, logistics, IT, and accounting to support company goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in business
- 3 years’ experience in online merchandising
- Leadership qualities and ability to coach and supervise
- Exceptional organization and attention to detail
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Negotiation skills
- 3 years of planning and/or management experience
- Intermediate to Microsoft skills: Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project management software
- Professional Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, strong communication skills (written and verbal), independent thinker, attention to detail, excellent people skills, ability to establish rapport, ability to write short correspondence, ability to speak and write English clearly, ability to accurately follow detailed procedures and processes, ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment, ability to work independently and with a group on various ongoing projects simultaneously, effective communication with internal and external customers, ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations, ability to concentrate for extended periods of time, ability to read written instructions, reports and other documentation, ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 30 pounds, specific vision abilities including close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus, ability to talk or hear, noise level in the work environment usually light to moderate
