Manager, Materials
About the role
Manager, Materials manages the materials management function, including planning, procurement, inventory control, and logistics to ensure efficient flow of materials that support manufacturing and production order requirements. Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address operational challenges, production schedules, and customer delivery commitments. Provides technical guidance to team members on material forecasting, supplier collaboration, and inventory optimization practices. Ensures compliance with company policies and industry regulations while driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance cost efficiency, material availability, and supply reliability across the organization.
Coordinates and is responsible along with the Plant Controller for the accuracy of month end Inventory records.
Key Responsibilities
- Advises leadership on materials management strategies that align with business objectives and drive operational efficiency.
- Attends industry conferences and seminars to stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in materials management.
- Attracts and recruits qualified professionals to build a high-performing materials management team.
- Coordinates processes and assignments to ensure efficient and effective material handling across all departments.
- Defines project terms and sets clear objectives for materials management initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Designs programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the materials management team, fostering continuous improvement.
- Determines resource requirements and allocates materials and personnel effectively to meet project demands.
- Develops tactical and operational plans to address resource and operational challenges, ensuring the timely availability of materials.
- Responsible for accuracy of month end inventory records along with the Plant Controller.
- Manages staff performance and development, coaching team members to achieve their full potential in contributing to the department's goals.
Required Education & Experience
- Minimum Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
- Years of Experience: 5-7 Years
- Field of Expertise: Production Planning, Industrial Engineering
Preferred Education & Experience
- Specialized Degree: Bachelor's degree
- Licenses/Certificates: CPIM or CSCP (ASCM)
- Years of Experience: 8-11 Years
