About the Role

Proactively promotes a safe work environment and maintains a high level of awareness regarding quality in both process and product. Participates in root cause analysis to develop methods for examining and reducing defects. Actively encourages and fosters continuous improvement philosophies and methodologies. Plans, organizes, directs, and sustains all assigned manufacturing processes in a vertically integrated, high-mix, high-volume environment from both strategic and tactical perspectives. Collaborates cross-functionally and interdepartmentally to meet or exceed company goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains operational compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Analyzes, executes, and sustains robust manufacturing processes to consistently meet quality and on-time delivery requirements.
  • Inspires, develops, and mentors employees and peers in support of company culture, 6S, Visual Management, Continuous Improvement, and Lean Six Sigma.
  • Develops, implements, and sustains standardized manufacturing measures and metrics to maintain favorable operational targets (cost, labor, equipment utilization, on-time delivery, productivity, rate, and yield).
  • Reviews manufacturing and operational data to identify and resolve equipment, process, and quality opportunities.
  • Develops or revises standardized operational work practices to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, quality, and efficiency standards.
  • Understands customer and industry requirements related to quality, lot control, and materials/inventory management.
  • Collaborates with Sales/Marketing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve equipment, product, and processes.
  • Demonstrates high-level communication and transparency across all organizational levels, reporting data regularly and timely.
  • Ensures adherence to policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Reports all suspicious and hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Complies with all safety and quality guidelines and maintains clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.
  • Works with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-starting ability and attention to detail.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to manage, lead, and coordinate a team with rapidly changing priorities.
  • High proficiency and understanding of various manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Develops solutions and alternatives to process or production problems.
  • Responsible for the safety and welfare of department employees.
  • Troubleshoots process and production issues effectively.
  • Pays close attention to detail and quality.
  • Uses measuring tools, interprets blueprints, and performs shop math.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific/technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to present information effectively to management and employee groups.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical field (equivalent experience considered). Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience; three (3) years of manufacturing supervision or management experience.
  • Continuous Improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma experience; LSS Certification preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Exercises supervisory and administrative responsibilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and addressing complaints.

Physical Demands

  • Moderate to frequent lifting or moving of medium-weight materials (regularly up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds).
  • Regular use of hands/fingers to manipulate components and tools.
  • Regularly required to sit or stand for extended periods, bend, and reach.
