The role is based at New Era Cap’s Headquarters (HQ) in downtown Buffalo, NY, offering an inviting atmosphere with an on-site café, fitness center, and Flagship store. This position is 100% on-site, encouraging in-person collaboration five days a week.

About the Role

The Manager, Logistics will support regional implementation of global initiatives by resourcing and networking with other departments to drive positive financial and operational outcomes. This role ensures effective, efficient, and compliant shipping execution for all inbound and outbound shipments while coordinating with customer service, sales, distribution, and trade compliance teams. The position also oversees the vendor network for all transportation modes to align, leverage, and deploy logistics strategies that improve serviceability, scale, and pricing.

The team manages four functional groups: Logistics, Distribution, Logistics Integration, and Trade Compliance, overseeing all product movement from factory departure to end-customer delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Manage relationships and act as the primary point of communication between New Era’s logistics partners for North America (LTL, FTL, Intermodal, Air, Ocean, and the company).
  • Anticipate, analyze, and troubleshoot problems with inbound/outbound deliveries, devising cost-effective and legal solutions.
  • Ensure optimum delivery reliability by developing efficient flow processes and identifying process improvements and cost-reduction strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Participate in strategic planning by identifying short- and long-term transportation and cost-saving strategies.
  • Assist in lane-level sourcing strategy with providers and negotiate truckload rates with common carriers to mitigate inflation and implement cost-saving projects.
  • Ensure vendor execution against transportation requirements to meet customer needs.
  • Create and manage KPIs for logistics providers, focusing on budget adherence and areas of improvement.
  • Manage the freight billing process to ensure invoices match contracted rates and are paid accurately and timely.
  • Handle shipping complaints and feedback promptly to customer satisfaction; analyze complaints for trends and recommend improvements to leadership.
  • Ensure SAP routing is set up and maintained within the distribution network.
  • Manage the logistics team (Logistics Coordinators) to execute logistics strategy, providing training and development.
  • Counsel, consult, communicate, instruct, and monitor direct-reporting employees on acceptable practices and company policies.
  • Support Hot Market activities related to major sporting events, requiring quick turnaround and urgent resolutions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a similar field preferred; additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Five to seven years of progressive experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain management, with at least three years of people management experience.
  • Customer service or operations management experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with TMS (Transportation Management System) and WMS (Warehouse Management System).
  • Strong ability to communicate, follow up, and engage with external partners to ensure proper procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute in a fast-paced environment with sound independent judgment.
  • Knowledge of multimodal logistics solutions.
  • Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
  • APICs certification is a plus.

Schedule

This role is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY, requiring in-person collaboration five days a week. Travel requirement: 10% to 15%, domestic and/or global.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000, plus bonus and benefits. Actual compensation is determined by factors including skill set, education, essential job duties, and necessary experience.
