Manager, Logistics & Inventory

About the role

Lead and continuously improve end-to-end logistics operations ensuring safe, compliant, and on-time delivery; robust inventory accuracy; standardized packaging; and effective receiving, while optimizing labor, material use, and carrier/service performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all inbound material handling: unloading, inspection, documentation, and routing.
  • Verify inbound shipments against POs, transfer orders, and RMAs for quantity, quality, and documentation accuracy.
  • Cookordinate MRB/DMR processes with Quality Assurance; lead investigations for discrepancies and establish supplier/carrier feedback loops.
  • Manage dock layout, staging zones, and drop-off areas to improve flow and reduce dock-to-stock time; ensure accurate and timely Epicor transaction posting.
  • Contribute to leading all logistics functions to ensure accuracy, accountability, traceability, and ERP (Epicor) system integrity.
  • Improve and manage the Cycle Count Program such as scheduling, variance analysis, root-cause investigations, corrective/preventive actions.
  • Implement standard work for inventory and logistics organization, labeling, and traceability aligned to 5S and Lean; optimize layout and part flow.
  • Establish and enforce procedures for inventory transactions, transfers, obsolescence, and physical audits.
  • Ensure packaging, labeling, and documentation meet Click Bond, customer, DOT, and IATA requirements.
  • Verify packaged products meet customer specs and internal standards; oversee quality and consistency of materials and labeling.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for packaging, labeling, documentation, and carrier interaction; standardize packaging by customer requirement.
  • Manage packaging material inventory levels.
  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor all outbound shipments to ensure compliance, documentation accuracy, and on-time delivery.
  • Maintain compliance with dangerous goods, export control, and customs regulations; prepare and retain export documentation.
  • Oversee staging, inspection, and verification of all shipments against Sales Orders, Jobs, or Transfer Orders; ensure timely system transactions.
  • Manage relationships and rate negotiations with carriers and resolve carrier issues/claims.
  • Lead continuous improvement to enhance packaging integrity, shipping reliability, throughput, and labor efficiency.
  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and feedback to designated Logistics team members.
  • Maintain adequate staffing levels, cross-training, and certification programs to support operational demands.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish goals, and maintain an updated skills matrix for department personnel.
  • Promote a positive, safety-driven, and team-oriented work culture.
  • Lead root-cause and corrective-action analysis for shipping or packaging errors, customer complaints, or quality issues.
  • Manage departmental performance metrics including safety, delivery, cost, quality, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Planning, Quality Assurance, Production, and Purchasing to align material flow and ensure delivery accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO, AS9100, OSHA, and internal company requirements.
  • Identify, document, and implement process improvements to increase throughput, accuracy, and packaging integrity.
  • Analyze shipping and packaging data to identify trends, cost reduction opportunities, and labor efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline material flow and documentation accuracy.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, teamwork, and accountability within the department.
  • Report immediately all suspicious and hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Understand and observe all safety guidelines and assure quality and safety by complying with all appropriate Click Bond policies and procedures.
  • Absorb and maintain clean, orderly, and hazard-free work areas.

Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience in operations, customer service, or related functions.
  • Background in shipping, packaging, inventory, or related operations preferred; experience supporting international shipments or understanding customer delivery requirements is valuable.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in logistics, warehouse operations, receiving, inventory control, packaging, or shipping within manufacturing or aerospace environments.
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Lean principles (5S, waste reduction, standard work, visual management) applied specifically in warehouse, stockroom, and shipping/receiving environments.
  • Proven ability to analyze operational data (receiving discrepancies, inventory accuracy, packaging quality, shipping performance) and drive corrective actions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Planning, Purchasing, Production, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service to meet delivery accuracy and material availability requirements.
  • Demonstrated success influencing other departments to improve material flow and documentation accuracy.
  • Strong proficiency in ERP systems (Epicor preferred) for inventory transactions, shipping/receiving, material traceability, and audit support.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to analyze data, prepare reports, communicate metrics, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Understanding of AS9100/ISO requirements related to documentation, receiving inspection, traceability, and packaging standards.
  • Working knowledge of DOT, IATA, export compliance, dangerous goods, and applicable packaging/labeling regulations.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements across all logistics functions.
  • Ability to write and read English.
  • Ability to work safely around moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and reaching in warehouse, receiving, packaging, and shipping environments.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of items up to 50 lbs. (boxes, parts, packaging supplies).
  • Use of hands and fingers for handling materials, operating tools/equipment, and performing computer/data entry tasks.
  • Vision requirements include close vision for reading labels, documents, and computer screens.
  • Ability to work safely around moving equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
