Manager Laboratory Services (MLT, MLS)
Job Summary
Provides managerial oversight for all sections (Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Phlebotomy, Anatomic Pathology, QA) of the clinical laboratory and may supervise one section of the laboratory. Oversees operational and technical activities within all sections listed. Works closely with the Regional Laboratory Director, Medical Director, and laboratory supervisory team to formulate section activities, modify and implement test procedures and policies, and maintain adherence to all regulatory (TJC, C AP, CLIA) regulations for the general lab as well as for their designated section.
Acts as the laboratory resource for hospital staff (e.g. physicians, nursing, etc.). Participates in the planning and execution of department projects and annual improvement priorities relative to the Balanced Scorecard Initiatives. Assists the Regional Director in the development and adherence to the departmental budgets (salary, non-salary, revenue).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in one of the physical, chemical, or biological sciences. Bachelor's of Science in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Sciences is preferred.
- Experience: Five (5) of clinical laboratory experience with an additional two (2) to four (4) years of clinical laboratory supervisory or management experience. Five (5) or more years of clinical laboratory supervisory or management experience is preferred.
- Licensure, Certification, Registration: ASCP (MT, MLS) required.
Knowledge, Skills And Ability Requirements
- Proficient computer skills (e.g. email, Microsoft WORD, EXCEL, POWER POINT)
- Must possess a working knowledge of overall laboratory operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments/department leaders/Administration
- Ability to handle multiple tasks/priorities; ability to prioritize daily work
- Capable of providing an outstanding customer service experience for patients and staff
