Manager, Laboratory Services FT Days 8am-4:30pm

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, supervises and assists in monitoring the efficiency of general clinical laboratory and pathology operations, including operational planning, orientation/in-service-training-motivation-performance evaluation, and management of staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation of clinical testing including point-of-care, quality management, workflow and processes.
• Solve problems related to laboratory operations.
• Maintain and organize equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
• Manage inter-hospital relationships with the laboratory.
• Evaluate turnaround time (TAT).
• Review proficiency testing results.
• Manage various projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a master’s degree is a plus but not required.
• A valid and current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.
• ASCP certification is preferred, but not required.
• At least 6 years of experience as a lead/supervisor CLS preferred.
• Must be able to converse well in English due to physician, nurse, and patient contact.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Work well under stress.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent people skills.
• Computer/LIS skills.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, a master’s degree is a plus but not required.

Experience: At least 6 years of experience as a lead/supervisor CLS preferred.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid and current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services. ASCP certification is preferred, but not required.

Language: Must be able to converse well in English due to physician, nurse, and patient contact.
