About the role
Our partner is seeking an experienced IT professional to oversee day-to-day technology operations and ensure a secure, reliable, and efficient technology environment. You’ll serve as a key technical resource across infrastructure, systems administration, end-user support, cybersecurity, and vendor management. The role combines hands-on operational oversight with strategic project support and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and external technology partners to solve complex issues and implement effective technology solutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily IT operations, monitoring system reliability and performance while coordinating the resolution of escalated technical issues.
- Provide advanced oversight of hardware, software, cloud-based infrastructure, and business applications, including collaborative and HR systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, system access, and onboarding/offboarding processes while maintaining accurate technical documentation.
- Support the development and implementation of IT policies, standards, procedures, and operational best practices.
- Coordinate technology initiatives, including system upgrades, integrations, new technology implementations, and process improvement projects.
- Partner with department leaders to understand operational requirements, recommend technology solutions, and evaluate emerging technologies.
- Participate in strategic planning related to IT infrastructure, operations, technology investments, and organizational improvement.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for external IT vendors, consultants, and service providers, coordinating deliverables, maintenance, service requests, and issue resolution.
- Monitor vendor performance and support contract and service-level agreement compliance, including coordination of technology purchases and renewals.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, system monitoring, security updates, patching, access controls, and operational risk mitigation.
- Assist with data privacy and security compliance activities and participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Collaborate across teams to communicate technical concepts clearly, resolve operational challenges, and ensure technology services meet organizational needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, systems administration, or technology support, preferably within a life sciences, healthcare, or global health environment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating external technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
- Strong knowledge of cloud-based IT infrastructure, collaborative platforms, systems administration, and IT operational support.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, operational risk management, and security frameworks such as NIST 800-171 and Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with the judgment to manage escalated technical issues effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Preferred certifications include CompTIA Security+, Microsoft certifications, and/or cloud platform credentials such as Microsoft Information Security Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert, or Microsoft Certified Power Platform Developer Associate.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically for organization-wide staff meetings.
- Ability to successfully complete required background, education, and professional-reference verification processes.
