About the Role

The Manager Information Services provides strategic and operational leadership for the implementation, optimization, and support of electronic health record (EHR) systems and other clinical applications. This role ensures clinical technology aligns with organizational goals, enhances patient care, and meets the evolving needs of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals. The Manager leads a team of analysts and application specialists and serves as a liaison between IT, clinical departments, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage, performance oversight, and professional development of IT staff, including contract and consulting personnel.
  • Set and monitor team performance goals, KPIs, and productivity metrics aligned with department and organizational objectives.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, innovation, and high-quality service delivery.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between IT, clinical operations, and executive leadership to ensure inpatient clinical applications support care delivery, regulatory compliance, and business priorities.
  • Facilitate collaboration with nursing, medical, and ancillary departments to optimize workflows and promote adoption of technology solutions.
  • Partner with external vendors and industry stakeholders to stay informed of best practices, emerging technologies, and system capabilities.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of projects and enhancements related to inpatient clinical systems.
  • Ensure project objectives are clearly defined, communicated, and met on time and within budget.
  • Champion change management strategies to support successful go-lives, upgrades, and process redesigns.
  • Oversee daily operations, incident management, and system performance for inpatient clinical applications.
  • Promote system integration, interoperability, and automation to enhance clinical efficiency and data integrity.
  • Review and ensure quality of system configurations, documentation, and workflow design before deployment.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and manage contracts associated with supported clinical applications, ensuring vendor performance, service level adherence, and renewal timelines are monitored and negotiated as needed.
  • Ensure all activities comply with organizational policies, HIPAA, Joint Commission standards, and information security protocols.
  • Uphold standards for secure access, storage, and distribution of clinical data and reports.
  • Participate in IT governance structures to prioritize enhancements and manage demand from clinical departments.
  • Provide regular updates to IT leadership (e.g., CIO) on project status, risks, resource needs, and emerging issues.
  • Escalate unresolved issues and timeline deviations promptly with recommended solutions.
  • Ensure transparency and proactive communication with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical systems, healthcare trends, and regulatory requirements through regular review of literature and participation in professional development opportunities.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in technology-enabled clinical operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Data Science, Health Informatics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience as a systems or technical analyst to include design, programming, and testing of application programs with a proven methodology, preferably related to clinical systems.
  • Minimum two years of progressive leadership experience overseeing cross-functional teams, managing staff development, driving strategic planning, and ensuring operational excellence in complex healthcare IT environments.
  • Current Epic Clinical Application certification is required.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, produce accurate work, and meet deadlines; ability to function in a setting with a wide variety of duties and numerous interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability in analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in healthcare computing environments.
  • Ability to be self-directed, learn quickly with strong attention to detail.
  • Proven record of excellent communication and organizational skills.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Requires the ability to move PCs and printers weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires planning, organizing, and working on multiple tasks at one time.
  • Tolerates ambiguity in instructions and work situations.

Pay

Salary Range: $146,651 – $219,976/Annual (DOE)
