About the role

Join Panera as a Team Lead - Manager in Charge and play a key role in ensuring both customers and associates have a great experience. You’ll be part of the bakery-cafe’s management team, reporting directly to the General Manager or Operating Partner, and responsible for developing people, managing team performance, and fostering a warm, inclusive culture.

  • Ensure extraordinary guest experiences by delivering high-quality food, service, staff interactions, and safety measures.

  • Coach and motivate your team to exceed bakery-cafe goals for sales, speed of service, order accuracy, and cafe health.
  • Train your team on food safety standards and ensure compliance.
  • Lead, manage, and develop associates through ongoing training, constructive feedback, and recognition of achievements.
  • Keep your team energized, engaged, and celebrated for individual and team successes.

Requirements

  • At least 90 days of experience working in a Panera bakery-cafe.
  • Ability to direct, motivate, coach, and train others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Certification in all positions on either the service or production track:
    • Service: Coffee, Barista, Bakery Backer, Dining Room, Cashier
    • Production: Prep, Soups, Salads/Hot Entrees, Sandwiches, Consolidator
  • Commitment to food safety and health safety.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • AOP Approval and completion of the Certified Manager Program (CMP), including ServSafe certification (or ability to pass).
  • Must pass a background check.
