About the role
The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a transitional role designed to prepare you for promotion into a Retail Store Management position. With a focus on leadership training, customer service excellence, and operational expertise, you'll receive hands-on assignments and structured learning opportunities. Within 8-12 weeks, you could progress into management—depending on your prior experience and performance.
Responsibilities
- Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and cultivate a high-performing, engaged store team.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with employees and customers to drive store execution and performance.
- Learn to manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to optimize store profitability.
- Support store operations, ensure compliance with policies, and uphold structured training processes.
- Assist with staffing, mentoring, and training employees to develop a strong, successful team.
- Take charge of customer service activities, ensuring outstanding experiences and resolving concerns proactively.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, store merchandising, and sales strategies to maximize success.
- Complete management skills training, learning key aspects of store operations and AutoZone culture.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of prior experience as a retail manager or supervisor.
- Full-time flexible schedule availability, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Strong people skills and effective communication in both Spanish and English.
- Previous experience in automotive retail or analyzing company financials (e.g., Profit & Loss statements) is a plus.
MITs must demonstrate consistent progression throughout the training program to be considered for management openings. Promotion is performance-based and subject to management availability.
