About the role
The Global Project Manager (GPM) is responsible for leading and coordinating business and implementation activities within all or part of an enterprise-wide project, including the development of the overall project/program strategy. The GPM works to monitor costs and schedules, coordinates activities of assigned projects, and ensures the ultimate success of all assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Defines and delivers assigned regional and global projects within costs, schedule and performance.
- Manages all communications with internal and external stakeholders on a global and regional level.
- Plays the role of the Global Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for implementation matters internally and for the customer (for assigned program including MDS project).
- Manages and controls the Global Program through an appropriate communication with all Regional Program Managers (RPgMs).
- Serves as the primary resource for escalation and tracking/accountability of Global Program to ensure timely resolution of related issues.
- Creates the Global Master Project Plan for implementation from regional and local project plans.
- Escalates requirements for project and service delivery management resources in larger markets/Opco's to ensure proper contract delivery.
- Coordinates assignment of necessary resources to perform Global Program / Project activities.
- Ensures assignment of local project resources.
- Maintains accountability and responsibility to ensure the project brief and direction is understood by internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides leadership, guidance, and directs activities of regional and OpCo and Technical Project Managers and project personnel.
- Reviews contracts and SOWs to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
- Accountable and responsible to ensure project brief and direction is understood by internal and external stakeholders.
- Participates in regional (global regions) kickoffs and occasionally OpCo (country) kickoffs.
- Develops and maintains Gantt charts and project management plan for each assigned account.
- Coordinates engagement with 3rd party solution providers to support customer implementations.
- Responsible for all central project reporting towards internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides feedback to functional management on project personnel to assist in performance evaluations.
- Ensures lessons learned are communicated back to the Global Project Management Office and Operations teams.
- Regularly contributes to GPMO standards processes and improvement activities.
- Participates in sales calls, executive presentations, and customer events where applicable.
Qualifications
- College degree or equivalent with eight to ten years management experience, including four to five years of that experience directly related to project management.
- Minimum 4 years of global account experience with other global (RGSx regions) and OpCos.
- PMP certification or ability to sit for the exam is required, and additional Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification and PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
- Frequent travel including occasional international travel is required.
- Good IT services project management experience preferably in the area of office and/or print solution businesses.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to clients, top management, groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Strong organizational skills, strong verbal and written communication skills in English, strong business acumen, and the ability to interact in a team environment at all levels within the organization.
- Advanced skills using word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software.
- Works closely with Global Project Managers, Technology Centers, and other regional global stakeholders as required.
- Works closely with local resources to execute project activities.
- Closes working relationship with Customers in designing and deploying applications and solutions, developing implementation strategies, and support planning.
Work Conditions, Mental and Physical Demands
- Typically works in an office environment.
- Minimal physical effort required.
- Moderate dexterity - regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, hand/eye coordination).
- Ability to travel up to 80% of work time, including occasional international travel.
- May require daily contact with internal and external contacts via phone and in person.
- Requires handling conference calls with international regions and OpCos beyond normal business hours.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
