About the role
The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for leading and sustaining the facility’s health and safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, reduce risk, and protect employees and the environment. This role drives a strong safety culture through proactive leadership, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to promote a strong safety culture across all departments.
- Manage and maintain site safety programs, including OSHA compliance and reporting.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and hazard assessments (JSAs).
- Lead accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Track and report safety metrics, injury data, and compliance activities.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims and partner with HR on return-to-work programs.
- Develop and deliver safety training and ensure compliance with required programs (e.g., PPE, LOTO, confined space).
- Maintain safety documentation including OSHA logs and regulatory records.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and support environmental compliance efforts.
- Support emergency response, crisis management, and process safety programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of experience in a safety leadership role, preferably in manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance requirements.
- Experience leading safety programs, audits, and incident investigations.
- Proven ability to influence, coach, and develop teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 30-hour certification (or ability to obtain).
- CPR/First Aid certification.
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and equipment. Flexibility to support off-shift or weekend needs as required.
