About The Position

The Platform Operations Manager plays an important role within the Growth team, ensuring excellence across our email and SMS programs. This role acts as the primary operations partner, translating product initiatives into scalable, testable, and reliable email, push notification and SMS workflows. This individual is responsible for maintaining the operational integrity for email and notification campaigns for assigned brands—from setup through deployment. Working at the intersection of email and SMS messaging, this role will oversee campaign setup, execution, monitor deliverability health, and partner with cross-functional teams to ensure our programs deliver both user value and growth.

In-office Expectations

This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.

Contributions

  • Campaign Operations & Execution
  • Oversee day-to-day email and SMS campaign operations, ensuring flawless execution and timely delivery.
  • Build custom user selections and other connected programs for enhanced targeting.
  • Scope, build, and launch specific acquisition and retention campaigns, including blast and journey-based use cases (e.g., winback, onboarding, high affinity user flows).
  • Own QA workflows, including link validation, image rendering, data mapping, triggering effectiveness, journey flows, preview testing, and multi-device checks.
  • Manage scheduling, batching, throttling, and send-time logic to optimize throughput (including MPS requirements).
  • Ensure proper setup of newsletters, lifecycle journeys, real-time alerts, and triggered communications.
  • Own A/B testing strategies and coordinate rollout of new templates with partners.
  • Monitor real-time send statuses, error queues, and fallback handling to ensure campaigns fire as expected.

Platform & Data Management

  • Monitor platform health, integration failures, and journey errors; drive real-time response and root-cause investigation.
  • Support advanced capabilities including segmentation, dynamic content rendering, conditional logic, and real-time triggers.
  • Maintain platform folder structures, naming conventions, asset governance, and permission controls.
  • Manage data hygiene efforts (inactivity criteria, churn processing, inactive segment monitoring).
  • Deliverability & Performance
  • Monitor inbox placement, blocklist status, bounce codes, and sender reputation across brands and IPs.
  • Partner with the deliverability consultant to identify and mitigate risks—spam traps, throttling, complaint spikes, cold IP warming, etc.
  • Oversee CAN-SPAM, CASL, GDPR, and CCPA compliance across templates, data handling, and unsubscribe processes.
  • Manage domain-level configurations (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) in partnership with Tech Ops.

Qualifications And Job Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in email, SMS, and/or mobile app messaging operations, marketing technology, or digital platform management.
  • Knowledge of ESPs and notification systems.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across editorial, product, data, and strategy teams.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and holding partners accountable.

About The Team

This role is part of our centralized Growth and Audience Relationship team, responsible for growing direct relationships between our brands and consumers, operating People Inc. brands' newsletter, notification and retention marketing programs, and delivering best in class experiences to millions of subscribers and members. This role works cross-functionally with product, data, production, and growth team counterparts, as well as brand leaders and brand editorial.

The Company's pay range is $60,000.00 - $70,000.00, with actual pay varying based on various factors including but not limited to work location, experience, and performance.
