About the role

The role of the Global Relationship Manager (GRM) is to create sustainable and profitable partnerships with key global customers in the biopharmaceutical industry. The GRM is responsible for formulating global account strategies for key global customers, and coordinating with local Biopharma Relationship Managers (BRMs) to ensure successful execution.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise account strategy that strengthens executive relationships, accelerates growth across the biologics manufacturing lifecycle, and positions Avantor as a trusted long-term partner supporting customers from process development through commercial manufacturing.
  • Own the global account strategy for assigned strategic customers, developing and executing multi-year growth plans in partnership with regional commercial teams, product management, technical experts, and executive leadership.
  • Serve as the strategic leader and primary coordinator for assigned accounts, aligning cross-functional teams across commercial, supply chain, quality, operations, and executive leadership to deliver a consistent global customer experience.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer C-suite executives, senior functional leaders, and key opinion leaders to understand long-term business priorities, influence strategic direction, and position Avantor as a preferred enterprise partner.
  • Partner closely with Avantor executive sponsors to prepare executive engagements, coordinate governance activities, and translate strategic priorities into actionable account plans that accelerate growth and strengthen enterprise relationships.
  • Lead complex commercial initiatives, including enterprise negotiations, multi-year agreements, pricing strategies, supply continuity planning, and risk mitigation across global customer organizations.
  • Leverage an in-region presence to strengthen executive relationships, accelerate decision-making, and improve coordination between APAC and global business teams.
  • Identify and qualify new enterprise growth opportunities across the biologics manufacturing workflow, expanding Avantor's participation with some of the world's largest biopharma manufacturers through strategic account planning and cross-business collaboration.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer within Avantor, driving alignment across business functions to resolve complex issues, improve customer outcomes, and support long-term strategic partnerships.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Chemical/Genetic Engineering, or a related field, or applicable work experience, required. Advanced degree or MBA a plus.
  • Experience: 8+ years Sales in biopharmaceutical manufacturing or related life sciences industry, with a proven track record in strategy creation and achieving sales targets. Proficiency with CRM applications and office software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word). Proven expertise in sales negotiation and global/key account management. Experience in executing global company strategies to achieve sales growth and managing a sales pipeline. 5+ years Proficiency in CRM and global accounts strategy formulation. Experience in negotiating and managing complex global contracts. Skill in facilitating senior-level customer presentations. Deep understanding of the biopharma ecosystem, manufacturing workflows, and industry trends (e.g., mRNA, CGT, CDMO models).

Pay

The expected pre-tax pay for this position is $122,000.00 - $196,075.00. Actual pay may differ depending on relevant factors such as prior experience and geographic location.

Schedule

This is a full-time position.
