About the role

Manager will provide operational assistance to Sr. Director, Global Insurance and Risk Management and support to Applied’s functional departments and business groups globally. This will be accomplished by working closely with the Sr. Director and proactively interacting with internal contacts, collaborating, building trust, enabling effective exchange of information necessary to deliver required support and services, providing timely guidance to stakeholders, preparing reports or presentations, and resolving other risk and insurance related matters.

The individual will manage assigned insurance programs and various risk management projects as they arise. Responsibilities include exposure data collection and analysis, claims management for assigned insurance programs, property risk prevention/engineering, providing support with acquisition and divestiture activities, working with third-party vendors, assisting with contract reviews, and assisting with other ad hoc projects/requests.

Person in this position will work closely with members of Finance, Legal, Environmental Health & Safety, Procurement, Human Resources, Real Estate & Facilities, Logistics, Security and others in the development and communication of programs and initiatives aimed at mitigating risk of loss, while minimizing long-term total cost of risk for the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Insurance Program Management (20%) – manage all aspects of assigned insurance programs, including global property, global stock throughput, various construction related programs, and crime insurance. Manage activities of third-party vendors associated with assigned insurance programs.
  • Property Risk Engineering (20%) – manage and coordinate, with assistance from third-party vendors, all loss control and property risk engineering services for existing properties, expansion projects, new construction, and logistics operations. Activities include attending site visits, collaborating with stakeholders on implementing recommendations of property risk engineers, communicating the need for property risk engineer reviews of capex projects, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations/codes, standards, and best practices concerning property risk exposures, and developing property risk engineering standards in collaboration with EH&S. Evaluate the need for placement of insurance policies for various capex projects.
  • Contract Reviews and Training (20%) – assist with contract reviews, provide advice and training to businesses on issues related to insurance and other risk management matters.
  • Claims Management (15%) – manage claims for assigned insurance programs and work closely with in-house litigation counsel, claim consultants, and TPA on efficient resolution strategies.
  • Insurance Data Collection and Management (20%) – gather and analyze required underwriting data and prepare annual renewal submissions for the assigned lines of insurance. Meeting deadlines is critical given the complexity and volume of data involved.
  • Insurance Budget & Reporting (5%) – assist with preparation of annual insurance budget, quarterly reviews/updates, and communication to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Firm understanding of various property and casualty insurance, property risk engineering, and other risk management concepts.
  • Undergraduate or higher degree in finance, insurance and risk management or comparable degree.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in risk management, insurance and/or brokerage fields in progressively more responsible positions.
  • CPCU and/or ARM insurance designation preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and able to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to deliver high quality work product under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen.
  • Strong consultative and collaboration skills.

Pay

Salary: $122,000.00 - $168,000.00

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.
