Manager, Generation Engineering (Multiple Florida Locations)

Base location for this position is flexible within the Duke Energy Florida Fleet.

About the role

Power Generation Operations for Regulated Utilities is responsible for generating electric power 24/7 in a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible manner. The Engineering organization provides technical expertise for the specification, design, and maintenance of building, mechanical, and electrical systems, components, and equipment—from fuel delivery through the delivery of electric energy to the high-voltage grid. This position leads engineers and technical staff within Central Engineering & Services in support of fossil, hydro, and combustion turbine (CT) stations, ensuring adherence to administrative initiatives, safety, compliance training, and personal development plans.

Responsibilities

• Administer technical professionals, including staffing, performance appraisals, employee development, training, and communication of corporate expectations.
• Oversee assigned work and ensure quality of work performed.
• Provide leadership and engineering expertise for the technical team.
• Develop and maintain standards and specifications for consistent technical approaches.
• Respond to emergent requests for services.
• Interface with operations personnel to understand and solve issues while maintaining safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible operations.
• Develop and staff a workforce plan to support emerging station needs.
• Create and support new initiatives in work methods, services, and technical innovations to enhance competitive advantage.
• Ensure environmental, health, and safety considerations are included in project execution (e.g., environmental checklists).

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Travel requirements: 15-25% of the time.
• Must be able to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license (desired).
• Significant understanding of design processes for non-nuclear fueled power generation facilities.
• Experience with design engineering processes for non-nuclear fueled power generation technology.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to interact with executive management.
• Strong business acumen.

Working Conditions

Work is primarily performed at a company facility in an office location with frequent visits to plant sites. Onsite mobility classification applies.
