About the role

The Manager of Financial Accounting and Reporting oversees the Foundation's financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with applicable regulations, and transparent reporting. This role supports the Foundation's mission to advance student success and advises leadership on budgeting, investments, and risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations and financials production for the San Jacinto College Foundation, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and cash management.
  • Plan and oversee the annual audit with an external auditing firm.
  • Support preparation of Form 990 and other required filings.
  • Create annual Foundation budget and the annual College budget for the office of resource development.
  • Work with investment advisors on all Foundation assets and ensure the investment policy allocations are current.
  • Oversee rebalancing to keep investments within the investment policy.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Foundation leadership and Board of Directors.
  • Develop and present financial reports and analyses to support strategic decision making.
  • Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, donor restrictions, and applicable state and institutional policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, preferably in nonprofit or higher education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Prioritizes multiple tasks and meets deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a strong customer-service orientation.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting.
  • Experience with financial reporting, audits, and internal controls.
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.

Benefits

Salary Grade: 118
Salary is based on the Board-approved salary schedule for the current fiscal year.
