Responsibilities

  • Develops and prepares budgets and financial reports for grants, general appropriations, endowments, and other funds.
  • Responsible for the overall planning and direction of an organizational unit(s) or a multi-faceted academic, research and teaching departments.
  • Within the School of Medicine, oversees a divisional unit.
  • Manages all facets and phases of financial and administrative management.
  • Oversees the management of general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
  • Manages and improves business processes and operations by ensuring continuity, integration of policies and procedures with the organization's mission and strategic plan.
  • Identifies short-term and strategic goals and has oversight for the allocation of resources to meet priorities.
  • Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
  • Develops, plans, and directs special projects, which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

    • Business Acumen - Demonstrates a clear understanding of all areas of the business (education, research, clinical care, finances and operations), – customers (students, trainees, faculty, community), resources, educational trends, new advances, – and uses skills in planning, prioritization, decision-making, and resource allocation to drive desired results; knowledge of Federal, State and higher education accounting and reporting requirements and standards; and financial analysis and accounting principles.
    • Knowledge of computer systems, software applications, and automated financial systems.
    • Bachelor's degree required.
    • Experience in academic or healthcare finance strongly preferred.
    • Required Skills:
      • Five (5) years related accounting or business experience, including two (2) years supervisory experience is required.
