Manager Environmental Services
Facility: South Florida Baptist • Location: Plant City, FL (Hybrid) • Status: Full Time, Salaried • Shift Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
About the role
Plans, organizes, and directs programs that encourage environmentally sound and cost-effective methods for infection control, disposal of hazardous, biohazardous, municipal, and regulated medical waste, recovery of recyclables, and waste prevention. Develops and reviews new and existing programs; recommends and directs implementation of changes. Provides technical expertise to other departments and divisions. Develops and recommends environmental services policies to the Director. Works in conjunction with infection control to develop programs addressing infection control processes, biohazard, and environmental problems. Serves as the liaison with biohazard and waste management franchise holders.
Works with the Director on the preparation and administration of the Environmental Services Department budget forecast. Recommends and justifies program goals and related financial and team resource needs. Accounts for the effective use of allocated resources. Maintains professional working relationships with vendors to ensure contracts are effectively managed and service and product agreements are upheld. Monitors implementation of contracts for compliance and levels of service.
Directs and coordinates the work of subordinate exempt and non-exempt staff. Manages the hiring, training, promotion, evaluation, and discipline of environmental services team members. Monitors and reviews employee productivity and performance metrics, staff development, and program implementation for customer satisfaction. Ensures team members are provided with resources and technology necessary to provide excellent customer service while maintaining aseptic conditions. Develops and implements employee development plans. Performs Environment of Care rounds with other ancillary departments. Assumes Director duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Responsibilities

- Collaborate with infection control to address infection control processes and environmental problems
- Serve as liaison with biohazard and waste management franchise holders
- Prepare and administer the Environmental Services Department budget forecast

- Manage vendor contracts and ensure compliance with service agreements
- Direct and coordinate the work of exempt and non-exempt staff
- Oversee hiring, training, promotion, evaluation, and discipline of team members
- Monitor employee productivity, performance, and development
- Ensure team members have resources and technology to maintain aseptic conditions and provide excellent customer service
- Develop and implement employee development plans
- Perform Environment of Care rounds with ancillary departments
- Assume Director duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
- 3 years of experience in an Environmental Services related field
- 2 years of experience as an Environmental Services Coordinator
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (required)
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
- 5 years of Environmental Services experience in healthcare (preferred)
- 2 years of Environmental Services Supervisor experience (preferred)
- Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification (preferred)
