Manager, Environmental Health & Safety
Overview
BJC HealthCare has an opening for a Manager of Emergency Management, Environmental Health & Safety, and Communications serving Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. This onsite leadership position provides strategic and operational oversight of the hospitals’ emergency management, environmental health and safety, and PBX/hospital operator programs.
Role Purpose
Manages, develops and directs overall operations for safety, compliance with regulatory standards and policies relating to safety and telecommunications. Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, guests, volunteers and contractors. Coordinates safety and telecommunication activities with other campuses and public emergency responders as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Maintains compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations through implementation of safety and health-related policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and oversees the development and implementation of the management plans, goals, evaluations and ongoing performance improvement.
- Oversees hazard surveillance inspections, identifies risks and coordinates implementation of risk strategies, in addition to coordinating and overseeing an industrial hygiene program.
- Oversees log record-keeping, accident investigation and job hazard analysis.
- Prepares & implements organizational construction safety policies, procedures and submit summary activity reports in accordance with agency/accreditation requirements.
- Serves as the Chairperson of the Safety Committees, and coordinates and oversees the activities of the Safety Committees.
- Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans.
- Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field of study.
- Experience: 2-5 years supervisor experience.
Preferred Requirements
- Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.
