Information TechnologyFull-time

REV Renewables, an LS Power company, is a leading developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy and energy storage projects across North America. With over 2.9 GW of operating assets and a robust development pipeline, REV is at the forefront of the clean energy transition. Our mission is to deliver affordable, reliable, and clean electric power to all through innovation and adaptation to evolving regulatory, environmental, and market landscapes.

About the role

REV’s Energy Management team is responsible for the commercial optimization of a fleet of storage and renewable assets in wholesale power markets, primarily PJM, CAISO, and ISONE. The Energy Management Systems function provides a dependable platform for traders to build analytical and position management applications and for management to extract reports. This hybrid leadership/individual-contributor role involves architecture, data engineering, systems operation, and training. The role ensures the system remains coherent, correct, and compliant while balancing speed with good friction and enabling users to build what they need.

This front-office role in Houston supports a small, energy- and technology-savvy trading team. Users range from no-code and low-code dashboard consumers to quantitative analysts and developers building full-featured applications. You will inherit a production system and be accountable for its daily operations, durability, security, refinement, and future growth.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & People Management
    • Lead, mentor, and direct the Quant and Systems Developer: set priorities, own the development backlog, provide technical direction, and ensure alignment with platform architecture and controls standards.
    • Support all platform users—from no-code dashboard consumers to quantitative developers—through hands-on 1-on-1 sessions, acting as a knowledge hub to unblock work and share best practices.
  • Hands-On Technical Contribution
    • Own the integrity of the ETRM platform as an active individual contributor: design, build, and maintain core components including trade capture, position management, valuation, and risk analytics.
    • Define and steward core libraries, guardrails, patterns, and standards to enable safe, low-maintenance development by users and AI agents.
    • Review and approve all production-bound code changes, validating logic, test coverage, and documentation before merge to main.
    • Maintain and evolve software development best practices, including merge controls, code review, testing, and documentation, while responding decisively to production issues.
  • Governance, Security & Compliance
    • Serve as the accountable owner for system governance: define and enforce change management, access provisioning, data classification, and audit-trail requirements in alignment with IT security policies, SOC controls, and NERC/FERC obligations.
    • Mature the platform’s security and authorization model to enable granular access workflows and activity monitoring, enforcing segregation-of-duties across all user types and environments.
    • Own incident response and business continuity: triage production issues, maintain runbooks, communicate proactively during outages or data integrity events, and drive improvements to reduce off-hours support needs.
    • Act as the primary liaison between the front office (trading, structuring, analytics, quant) and IT, leading cloud and infrastructure resource planning for the ETRM platform.
  • Reporting & Analytics Integrity
    • Establish and maintain transparent, automated information flows for portfolio position, dispatch analytics, and hedge reporting, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and auditable by trading, risk, and finance teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with demonstrated hands-on ownership of core ETRM components and a focus on quality control, compliance, and governance.
  • Strong quantitative developer background: proficiency in Python; experience with time series data manipulation using dataframe libraries and columnar storage; data modeling and API development.
  • Demonstrated ownership of production systems, including security principles, segregation-of-duties, and access controls in an energy trading context.
  • Ability to earn trust across technical and non-technical stakeholders; strong communicator who bridges front-office needs and IT/infrastructure teams.
  • Ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity, and entrepreneurial drive; comfortable operating as both a manager and individual contributor in a lean, high-expectations environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Machine learning experience.
  • Kubernetes/cloud-native DevOps (EKS, Helm, Docker).
  • Broad US power market and energy trading-product knowledge, including power analytical capabilities.

Technology Platform

  • Data Model and Business Logic: Python, pandas, polars, internal utilities.
  • Interfaces:
    • External data/applications: Python, Selenium, SFTP, HTTPS.
    • Internal data/users/applications: FastAPI, Python, Streamlit.
  • Orchestration: Dagster for data pipelines.
  • Front-End: Streamlit, PowerBI for UIs, dashboards, and queries.
  • Infrastructure:
    • Source control: Git (third-party host/actions).
    • Environment specification: Docker.
    • Cloud deployment: Kubernetes, Helm, EKS.
    • Windows deployment: WSL and/or Conda.
    • Data storage: AWS S3 with low-level query optimization.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk, using a computer workstation for long periods.
  • Occasional physical tasks: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires effective time management, concentration, and screen-time endurance.

Benefits

  • Employer-sponsored Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage for employees and eligible dependents.
  • Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA).
  • Company-paid Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability Insurance.
  • 401(k) with employer contributions.
  • Generous Time Away policies.
  • Educational Reimbursement for professional development.
