About the role
The EMS Manager under the direction of the Emergency Medical Services Director, or the designee, is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures of the Hospital. They have authority to make decisions in the areas of patient care, human resource and financial management and are responsible for the coordination of overall programs, activities, objectives, policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Schedules and coordinates all mandated training and education for EMS staff.
- Maintains certification and credentials for all EMS staff (hospital, outside ambulance contracts, and contracted fire departments).
- Oversees and ensures proper maintenance of Workday, EPIC systems and Healthstream for all EMS staff.
- Schedules routine and preventative maintenance for equipment.
- Assists in planning and evaluating Emergency Preparedness for the EMS system.
- Participates in various special projects as requested, utilizing subject matter expertise to assist in project development.
- Responds to requests for ALS intervention and provides emergency medical care in the pre-hospital environment according to Paramedic Protocols and Policies approved by SSHS and the ALS system Medical Director.
- Manages and resolves issues related to patient care, human resources, and finances.
- Represents the EMS division at State and regional EMS meetings.
- Planners and executes large scale events and ICS planning.
- Acts as incident command at major incidents and events.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of college equivalent work experience.
- A valid driver's license.
- At least 5 years full-time experience as a paramedic in an emergency setting.
- Valid Drivers License.
- EMT-P (Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) - Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS)).
- ACLS (American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification).
- BLS (American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Certification).
