Overview

Indiana University Health is seeking a Manager-Deputy Chief of Police to join their Department of Public Safety team. This role involves managing and directing the operations of the department, overseeing personnel matters, planning and research, agency financial management, and budget preparation. The Deputy Chief also recruits and hires new team members, collaborates with stakeholders, and assumes command in the absence of the Chief.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee personnel matters, including recruitment, hiring, and performance evaluations
  • Manage and direct the operational activities of regional DPS departments
  • Perform complex administrative work to direct the operational activities of regional DPS departments
  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Assume full command of all activities in the absence of the Chief

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience in relevant field
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Comprehensive background in supervision
  • Previous successful completion of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I or Tier II training or equivalent
  • Current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License
  • Knowledge of computers and various software programs
  • Pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening, and psychological exam
  • Successfully complete Firearms Proficiency Test with continuous requalification on a semi-annual basis
  • Able to obtain NCIC/IDACS access
  • No law enforcement officer license denial by final order or revocation
  • No current suspension or voluntary surrender of a law enforcement license

Qualifications
