About the Role

You will lead a team responsible for managing and monitoring credit risk exposure across the organization through the development of policies, procedures, and reporting. Each day, you’ll assess credit exposure across key counterparties, identify emerging risks, and set priorities for your team. You’ll partner with Commercial, Legal, and Finance to evaluate transactions and implement appropriate credit protections, while providing leadership with clear insights into portfolio trends and risk. Balancing strategic oversight with hands-on leadership, you will coach your team, ensure consistent credit decisions, and drive process improvements that strengthen the function and support business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of credit professionals, including workforce planning and career development
  • Establish and maintain credit risk management policies, procedures, and controls aligned with business objectives
  • Oversee the evaluation and approval of counterparty credit limits and risk exposure
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to assess credit risk on transactions and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Monitor and report on credit exposure, counterparty activity, and risk concentrations across the portfolio
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, forecasts, and cost analysis
  • Provide leadership visibility through reporting and insights on credit risk trends and performance
  • Manage a group of credit analysts responsible for analyzing the company's credit risk exposure in energy marketing & trading
  • Score counter-party credit and prepare reports around counter-party credit issues
  • Develop internal scoring model for credit risk, implement and maintain effective credit risk standards, and assess and approve credit limits
  • Monitor credit exposure for routine and complex transactions
  • Recommend and implement credit enhancement provisions to protect the firm if credit ratings are downgraded
  • Ensure consistent application of credit policy and procedures across the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in corporate credit
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to lead and develop a team

Skills

  • Strong financial analysis and modeling capabilities
  • Deep understanding of credit risk practices, policies, and mitigation strategies
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and evaluate creditworthiness
  • Knowledge of financial and commodity derivatives
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
