Manager Cost Accounting

About Our Client:The organization operates in the healthcare sector, focusing on financial and operational management within a health network. It addresses the challenge of accurately calculating patient care costs by integrating clinical, payroll, and financial data. This facilitates informed decision-making regarding capital investments, payor negotiations, and financial scenario planning across the network. About the Opportunity:The MANAGER COST ACCOUNTING leads all operational cost accounting activities for the network under the direction of the Director of Cost Accounting. This role supports finance and operational leadership by providing advanced patient cost analytics, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and data visualization. The position is crucial in producing accurate cost information that informs financial health assessments, reimbursement discussions, business cases, and strategic priorities. Responsibilities:Manage hiring, termination, coaching, development, performance management, and staff productivity.Plan, organize, staff, direct, and control daily department operations, including policy implementation.Establish and maintain cost accounting principles across network entities, including cost definitions and allocation methodologies.Provide direction to cost analysts on cost allocation rules and processes.Use decision support tools to create reports and analyses for leadership to identify opportunities and support financial decisions.Mentor and coach team members, identifying growth opportunities aligned with business goals.Build collaborative relationships with hospital leaders and clinical teams for accurate cost and productivity metrics.Train departments on cost data usage and reporting tools.Manage data credibility through compliance, audits, and reconciliation processes.Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant experience/education.Minimum 3 years in leadership or management.Minimum 3 years of database development experience.Minimum 3 years in cost accounting.Advanced Excel skills.Ability to adapt to changing technologies.Strong understanding of relational databases and transactional systems.Preferred:3 years in healthcare systems.Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA), or Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP).Knowledge of SQL, macros, and Visual Basic.Experience with healthcare-specific cost accounting systems such as EPSi, StrataJazz.Strong written and oral communication skills.Ability to analyze complex scenarios and present findings effectively.
