Manager, Corporate Project Engineering

About the Role

As the Corporate Project Engineering Manager, you will provide support to all Shurtape business units. Your primary responsibility will be managing large or complex capital projects, supporting individual plants’ engineering staff with ongoing projects, and assisting engineers and managers with technical projects or management issues. This role may also involve assisting manufacturing maintenance with equipment modifications, new equipment installations, and documentation generation.

Project management will encompass all facets from initial scoping to successful commissioning, ensuring projects stay within budget and meet milestones.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering projects to meet purpose, timing, and budget.
• Supervise activities of outside contractor personnel, ensuring adequate training and adherence to company practices.
• Work with individual plants to ensure project completion and transfer of ownership, including equipment functionality, drawings, work instructions, spare parts lists, and training.
• Apply sound mechanical, electronic, and electrical engineering principles.
• Develop capital budgets for assigned projects and assist in establishing annual operating and capital budgets.
• Understand materials and process components of projects to optimize quality and cost.
• Provide engineering input for future strategies and participate in "what if" discussions.
• Lead or participate in continuous improvement activities for manufacturing operations.
• Support subsidiary companies with technical projects and issues.
• Collaborate with other departments to plan seamless modifications or additions to facilities and equipment.
• Serve on New Product Development teams to develop new or modified products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineering license preferred.
• 8+ years of engineering project management and maintenance management experience.
• Large equipment design experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for all levels of personnel.
• Proven ability as a trustworthy team builder and leader.
• Self-motivated problem solver.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations.
• Web handling, process control, and QA systems knowledge.
• Adhesive knowledge, release coat knowledge, backing properties, and coating principles are a strong plus.
• Technically inclined aptitude.

Physical Demands

• Significant time on a production floor with temperatures ranging from 50°F to 100°F.
• Considerable walking required.
• Domestic travel may be required; possibility of international travel.
• No heavy lifting is typically required.
