Manager, Project Engineering

About the role

Aecon Engineering Services Inc. (United) is seeking a Project Engineering Manager to support Nuclear Generating Stations in the Detroit/Chicago/Toledo area. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the client and engineering group, providing engineering management and guidance to subordinate staff, and demonstrating project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary representative for UECI as a field liaison between the client and engineering group.
• Provide engineering management and guidance to subordinate staff, enforce company and project policies, and serve as a liaison between UECI and client interface.
• Plan and manage work activities to ensure successful project execution while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
• Supervise and delegate tasks among staff.
• Monitor day-to-day activities and demonstrate the ability to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities.
• Demonstrate knowledge of resources and capabilities of other groups for appropriate incorporation into project organization.
• Clearly understand the scope of work and contract requirements or those requirements that pertain to his/her area of responsibility.
• Support or conduct formal status reporting and presentations to client and/or management.

Requirements

• B.S. Engineering Degree from an accredited university in an Engineering Discipline
• Professional Engineering (PE) License in any State with ability to be licensed in other States by Comity
• Minimum 5 years of experience working in a nuclear plant.
• PREFERRED: 3 years’ experience in a leadership position.
• Experience working with others in a Project Team environment
• Written and oral communications skills
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize and organize work in a multi-tasked environment
• Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access at a nuclear power plant.
• Field experience / Walk-downs on power projects
• Electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls Engineering background is preferred.
• Experience preparing Engineering Design Modification Packages for Nuclear Power plants including familiarity with Nuclear Standard Design Process (IP-ENG-01)
