Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise multiple direct reports within the Fleet Services Department.
- Build effective working relationships between Fleet Services and internal customers in support of Lewis Services’ goals and mission.
- Support the Fleet Director and Regional Fleet Supervisors as needed.
- Ensure adherence to departmental policies and procedures.
- Administer and manage the annual capital budget across all companies.
- Direct the work of fleet specialists and coordinators responsible for DOT compliance, vehicle titling and registration, toll and traffic violations, recall campaigns, and fleet management system administration.
- Oversee company asset disposals and administration of the annual dielectric testing program.
- Direct GPS system administration, analysis, and invoicing, and monitor preventative maintenance programs across all companies.
- Monitor DOT roadside inspections and process required documentation.
- Compile data for audits, regulatory reviews, and management reporting.
- Oversee transportation logistics and dispatch operations to improve scheduling, routing, and fleet asset utilization.
- Coincide with operations managers, supervisors, and field personnel to prioritize transportation requests and align fleet resources with business needs.
- Develop and implement routing and logistics strategies that reduce transportation costs and improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor fleet deployment and dispatch activities to support the timely movement of personnel, equipment, materials, and company assets.
- Review transportation metrics, route performance, fuel consumption, and utilization data to identify process improvements.
- Manage third-party transportation providers, rental vendors, and logistics partners when additional fleet resources are needed.
- Evaluate and implement transportation and dispatch technologies, including GPS, telematics, routing, and logistics management systems.
- Ensure transportation activities comply with DOT regulations, company policies, and established safety standards.
- Support emergency response planning and coordinate fleet and logistics resources during storm restoration, outage response, and other emergency events.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of management experience in fleet operations, logistics, transportation, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience leading teams and coordinating fleet, dispatch, or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of DOT compliance requirements, fleet maintenance programs, asset management, and transportation logistics.
- Ability to analyze operational and financial data, manage budgets, and identify opportunities to improve cost and utilization.
- Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and cross-functional partnership skills.
- Ability to use computers, mobile devices, and fleet management technology.
- PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), dispatch systems, route optimization software, GPS platforms, and fleet telematics.
- Experience supporting utility, construction, vegetation management, or another asset-intensive field operation.
