Manager Contracts

About the Role
Participates in the development and fulfillment of contract requirements in the purchase or sale/delivery of equipment, materials, products, or services. Evaluates contract compliance and advises others on contractual rights and obligations. Requests or approves amendments to contract terms or contract extensions. Prepares bids or requests for proposals (RFPs), including specifications and requirements; negotiates contract terms and participates in the determination of acceptable bids.
Supervises the daily activities of support staff or production team members. Sets priorities for the team to ensure task completion and coordinates work activities with other supervisors. Problem-solving is guided by policies and procedures with guidance and oversight from management.
Responsibilities
- Supervises all activities in the organization's contracts administration function.
- Oversees the preparation and administration of bids, proposals, negotiations, and contracts that follow company policies and legal requirements.
- Supervises the contracts administration staff and guides compliance with complex contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Oversees and develops policies and processes that govern the contract administration staff and provides guidance on contract terms and the assessment of contract proposals.
- Drives negotiations with suppliers, partners, or customers.
- Leads and directs the work of other employees, including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & Senior Leadership.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree and 5-7 years' experience OR equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills.
- Strong understanding of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
- Up to 25% travel likely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business or a relevant field.
- NCMA Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) certification.
- Government contracts experience.
- Experience with contract management software.
