About the role
The Manager, Contracts will be a working manager providing day-to-day supervision for the contract administration team while also administering a limited number of DOD and commercial contracts. This role involves guiding the contract team on risk analysis and providing feedback to the business unit. The position requires establishing high team participation and interaction to ensure quality and responsiveness throughout the contract period of performance.
- Provide leadership in pre- and post-contract administration functions.
- Serve as a recognized authority in contract administration outside the Contracts organization.
- Add demonstrated value to business operations at the program level.
- Act as the company’s representative to external customer contracts and procurement personnel.
- Lead or participate in complex negotiations.
- Develop and formalize department processes and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Access product information for cost, pricing, and contract negotiation.
- Discuss contract information within the company at all levels as needed.
- Request critical financial information as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (may be waived by the VP & General Counsel). Preferred degrees include Business Administration, Contract Administration, Economics, or Law.
- 15+ years of functional experience using the required skill set.
- 3-5 years of management experience.
- 15+ years of industry experience.
- Training prerequisites (within one year of taking the position): ESD and Safety Training as dictated by the Safety Department.
Skills
- Advanced and effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver information concisely.
- Proven ability to write and edit business material (a writing sample will be required).
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to identify and evaluate business risks.
- Knowledge of and working experience with FAR, DFAR, and UCC.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Financial understanding of rate structures and pricing strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex agreements.
- Ability to foster and maintain solid relationships with customers and suppliers.
- Experience with and understanding of international contracting, including compliance with ITAR and EAR.
