SUMMARY
Provide managerial and technical support for the daily operations of the entire Food Service Department; oversee concession programs for effective outcome; analyze general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance policies to assess that SFT requirements are met; provide general information regarding departmental and SFT services and programs to callers and visitors; perform a wide variety of support duties; process paperwork associated with leasing concessions space; respond to requests for information from management/supervisory personnel or guests.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Essential Functions:
- Serve as a key member of Food Service management team, contributing to the overall institutional growth and development.
- Assist SVP in development and working within a substantial operating budget in an efficient and cost-effective manner without compromising the integrity of the service provided
- Oversee processing of agreements, contracts and correspondence between vendors and suppliers
- Establish and manage department schedules designed for maximum effectiveness of the department.
- Schedule seasonal compliance staff.
- Work with SVP to analyze and approve vendor general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance policies to ensure SFT requirements have been met.
- Aid SVP in implementing and maintaining Vendor Evaluation Program. Track program performance outcomes to measure success and intended impact.
- Oversee production of Big Tex Choice Awards Program.
- Aid SVP in menu development and approval process.
- Maintain relations between third party consultants and vendors (i.e., Health Department, TABC, Police, City Inspectors) to insure effective operational procedures.
- Aid SVP in maintaining and updating Concessions Handbook.
- Perform a wide variety of general administrative support tasks and duties, including the maintenance of accurate and detailed files and records; verify accuracy of information, research discrepancies and record information.
- Provide information on departmental and State Fair policies and procedures as required; transfer inquiries to the appropriate individual or department as necessary; receive and resolve citizen complaints.
- Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints and new developments.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Support the Mission Statement and Core Values of the State Fair of Texas.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all internal, state and federal regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Completion of high school or equivalent.
- Experience in food service management or related field.
- Knowledge of general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
