About the Role
Provide strategic leadership to a team of 10 to 15 highly technical quoting staff. Focus on talent development, deployment of sound commercial strategies, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and delivering a positive internal and external customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Application Engineers and quoting staff to generate high-quality, on-time, value-priced proposals and technical design decisions.
- Ensure front-line Commercial Operations teams drive margin, make value-add pricing decisions, and deliver best-in-class support to Engineering, Sales, and end-user clients.
- Train, develop, and engage quoting staff while providing daily guidance to support performance goals.
- Draft development plans and provide feedback to help team members grow their capabilities.
- Ensure process compliance and training related to customer-facing policies and procedures, including proper oversight of team members.
- Create and implement best practices to improve quoting effectiveness, reduce proposal cycle times, and increase hit rates.
- Analyze and measure performance metrics to optimize resource utilization and manage workload across the team.
- Drive collaboration and clear communication with cross-functional stakeholders, including Sales, Operations, and Engineering.
- Manage expenses and ensure effective staff utilization while participating in department budget setting and monitoring.
- Enhance process compliance related to tools, systems, and customer-facing policies and procedures.
- Embrace Flowserve values and ensure team members are effectively engaged.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial front-end and/or comparable sales/customer-facing experience, with cross-functional/platform experience preferred.
- Leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated leadership style that encourages collaboration and values employee engagement.
- High level of commercial skills, including business savvy, financial acumen, strong communication/influencing skills, and a sales mindset.
- Excellent organizational skills and a proven track record of achieving objectives and challenging goals.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Proven attention to detail and a process-oriented, results-driven mindset.
- Strong understanding of Flowserve's industry and portfolio, with both technical and commercial expertise.
- Continuous improvement mindset and comfort with analytical tools and related technologies.
- Moderate travel required.
- Experience with commercial contracts and terms and conditions is preferred.
- BS or BA Degree in a relevant field and 8-10 years of relevant experience.
