Manager, Climate Readiness and Community Recovery
Your Role
As a Manager, Climate Readiness and Community Recovery, you will support provincial and federal agencies, local governments, and Indigenous Governing Bodies in assessing and mitigating risks from extreme climate events impacting critical infrastructure, people, culture, and the economy.
You will work within a team that advises governments, agencies, and businesses on complex climate risks across both the built and social environments, helping clients prepare for, mitigate, and recover from disasters.
Acting as a subject matter expert, you will translate complex risk into strategic, actionable advice that reduces vulnerability and supports adaptation to a rapidly changing climate.
You will collaborate with a high-performing, multidisciplinary team across regions and sectors, working closely with community leaders, elected officials, public safety professionals, case managers, engineers, planners, and project managers to strengthen community resilience to extreme hazard events.
Responsibilities
- Lead emergency management preparedness, mitigation and recovery planning with communities, including development of plans, reports, activities and training exercises.
- Lead the assessment of potential hazards, vulnerabilities and risks that could impact communities and critical infrastructure and recommend adaptations to support resiliency.
- Lead and participate in prospective client discovery meetings; develop and support winning proposals, commercial strategy, and client presentations.
- Lead, mentor, and empower team members, supporting professional development, knowledge transfer, and performance excellence.
- Accept being empowered and supported to lead.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of progressive experience in management consulting serving public and/or private sector clients or working directly for Local Government in a similar role.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex advisory mandates involving multiple stakeholders across large-scale infrastructure or capital asset projects.
- Practical experience working in a response or recovery organization, dealing with climate related risks and disasters, supporting affected communities.
- Experience managing and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability and willingness to work in a trauma informed and culturally appropriate manner.
- Strong financial, commercial, and Excel modeling capabilities, including business case development and investment analysis.
- A university degree in Government and/or Business Administration, Emergency Management, Climate Adaptation, Business Continuity, Project Management or other related discipline would be an asset.
- Professional designations such as PMP, CPA, CFA, LEAN/Six Sigma, or similar industry-recognized credentials are assets.
- Experience with emergency management systems within government or critical infrastructure sectors is considered an asset.
