Manager, Cardiothoracic Surgery Operating Room

The Manager Surgical Services Cardiac OR position at Sentara Heart Hospital in Norfolk, VA assumes responsibility for the successful operation and achievement of departmental goals. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations, ensuring patient safety, and aligning with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Assume responsibility for the safe management of patients throughout their perioperative experience.
• Mentor staff by demonstrating professional practices that align with surgeon expectations, organizational goals, and clinical standards of care.
• Manage a team of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, OR attendants, Surgical Techs, Surgical Assistants, Perfusionists, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants.
• Prepare the operating room and ensure all necessary equipment and medications are available.
• Review patient charts and assess patients before and during procedures.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs during surgeries.
• Document information accurately and provide a call report to the ICU floor nurse post-surgery.
• Ensure the operating room is ready for the next scheduled case.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Degree required.
• Preferred Master's level degree in nursing.
• Virginia RN License required.
• 3 years of OR experience required.
• 3 years of leadership experience required.
• Strong leadership and communication skills essential.
