We are seeking a Manager of Cardiopulmonary Services to lead our dynamic team of licensed respiratory care practitioners certified through the National Board for Respiratory Care.

About the Role

The Manager of Cardiopulmonary Services is a Registered Respiratory Therapist responsible for ongoing operational oversight of the Cardiopulmonary Services department, including Respiratory Therapy, Cardiac, and Pulmonary Rehab. This role collaborates with other department managers and hospital leadership to meet strategic objectives that promote a safe and patient-focused work environment. The manager directs, negotiates, and coordinates daily administrative and clinical activities to ensure optimal service for patients ranging from neonate to adult-geriatric.

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC) is a 98-bed facility located in Charles County, one of Maryland’s fastest-growing communities. With over 373 medical staff, UM CRMC has provided excellence in acute healthcare and preventive services for more than 80 years, serving Charles County and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee approximately 20 FTEs and develop and achieve established hospital standards of care through effective staffing, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation of policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Responsible for staff hiring, orientation, development, and education, including coaching, counseling, disciplining, recognizing, and rewarding staff performance.
  • Provide operational leadership for Respiratory and Cardiopulmonary functions through implementation of protocols, policies, and action planning.
  • Analyze, develop, and implement methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services.
  • Oversee equipment evaluation, care guidelines, quality improvement, clinical practice of staff, department finances, supply chain, productivity measurement, quality, competency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Actively participate in clinical committees and recommend changes in policy, programs, and physical resources to achieve hospital objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of respiratory therapy.
  • Successfully passed the Registry board examinations of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of experience (Required).
  • Master’s degree (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in clinical aspects of respiratory care, including critical care.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an acute care facility.
  • 5 years of supervisory/management experience.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Joint Commission (JC) regulations/requirements.
  • Proficient skills in ventilator management and strong clinical evaluation skills.

Qualifications

  • Current Maryland RCP License or Maryland license eligibility prior to start date (Required).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) (Required).
  • BLS/PALS/ACLS certification (Required).
  • Active member of the NBRC, AARC, and AARC state affiliation (Preferred).

Pay

Pay Range: $54.42–$81.64 per hour. Eligibility for Management Incentive Plan.
