About the role

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Application Development & Support to lead and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives impacting enterprise software applications, development teams, internal customers, and third-party providers. This role is critical for initiatives aimed at enhancing, remediating, transforming, modernizing, and supporting application systems and platforms across a wide variety of technologies. You will collaborate with solution architects, technical leads, security, infrastructure, and other roles to drive successful delivery in a fast-paced environment. The position requires hands-on leadership and close partnership with multiple technology teams and business stakeholders to communicate, coordinate, resolve issues, and ensure project delivery. You will also play a key role in identifying impacts, providing executive updates, and removing technical barriers to success.

This role ensures adherence to processes for security, audit compliance, operational improvements, and technology enhancements. You will be accountable for ensuring application solutions are designed, deployed, and operated on secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure platforms, working closely with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to optimize performance, availability, disaster recovery readiness, and compliance with enterprise standards. The position also involves project management for multiple initiatives and vendor management for third-party service providers.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security teams to design and implement scalable, highly available, and resilient platforms.
  • Ensure applications are designed with infrastructure considerations, including capacity planning, performance tuning, failover, and recovery.
  • Drive adoption of cloud-native architectures, containerization, and platform engineering practices where applicable.
  • Oversee environment strategy (DEV, QA, UAT, PROD) to ensure consistency, automation, and governance across environments.
  • Ensure observability (monitoring, logging, alerting) is in place to support proactive issue detection and performance management.
  • Collaborate on disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity strategies, including testing and validation of recovery objectives (RTO/RPO).
  • Ensure infrastructure security standards, patching, and vulnerability remediation are incorporated into the application lifecycle.
  • Support infrastructure cost optimization initiatives through efficient resource utilization and architectural decisions.
  • Partner with leadership to drive innovation by understanding business needs and evolving technologies; participate as an integral member of the Technology Delivery Management Team responsible for defining and implementing technology strategies, capital plans, and roadmaps.
  • Provide technical leadership to a team of developers to make appropriate technical decisions that meet business needs and set team priorities based on tactical and strategic objectives, eliminating roadblocks to focus on key goals.
  • Define, implement, and promote processes, best practices, and standards for application development and deployment, including service-oriented architecture, reusable code, web usability, branding, security controls, and Agile methodologies.
  • Work closely with other departments within the technology organization to understand business demands and identify opportunities for solutions and continued innovation of technical capabilities aligned with business needs.
  • Manage budget according to plan by preparing yearly forecasts, facilitating capital request preparation, and assessing future resource needs.
  • Oversee all aspects of team management, including prioritization of work, career development, and training needs.
  • Manage all aspects of application development and support, ensuring application performance/stability, end-to-end transactional flows, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for outages.
  • Coach and counsel employees on performance, set performance standards, recommend pay actions, and handle other HR responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree (MBA preferred).
  • Seven (7) or more years of experience, with a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible, comprehensive experience in Application Development and IT Project Management.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the full software development life cycle (intermediate level).
  • Extensive technical and professional knowledge (expert level).
  • Awareness of programming standards and protocols (intermediate level).
  • Excellent knowledge of program coding techniques, file access methods, testing techniques, and documentation methods (advanced level).
  • Knowledge of architecture and infrastructure required to support various applications and technologies (intermediate level).

Pay

Salaried position with a minimum pay range of $125,000.00 and a maximum pay range of $135,000.00. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on level and/or type.
