What's Unique About This Role?
The Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role and utilizes hands-on experience and understanding of accounting processes and operations to support the global accounting functions within the corporate finance team. This role owns critical accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Treasury, and the monthly close process. The role will lead the preparation and review of the consolidated financial and management reports.
What Will This Person Do?
- Oversight of Accounting and Accounts Payable functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ownership of the monthly close process and ensuring timely and accurate consolidated financial reporting.
- Leadership of accounting for Amex, Concur, and other expense reporting systems, ensuring compliance with corporate policies globally.
- Preparation and review of month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Leading the preparation and review of regularly scheduled financial statement packages, including the board memo, to ensure accuracy and completeness; setting up and leading related meetings regularly.
- Partnering with the Finance team to analyze and communicate budget-to-actual variances to department leaders.
- Coordination of monthly income statement and balance sheet variance reporting to the Assistant Controller, Global Corporate Controller and CFO.
- Leading cross-functional improvements related to financial results, project reporting, capital spend reporting, and system implementations, such as ERP, travel and expense, fixed assets, etc.
- Assisting with establishing and maintaining the accounting policy manual, including updating policies, developing new policies and training the accounting staff to ensure consistency and compliance with GAAP requirements.
- Leading global financial audits, including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with external auditors.
- Managing, mentoring, and training staff accountants and the AP team, providing guidance on complex accounting matters.
- Leading accounting projects as assigned.
- Providing global support as a corporate lead for general accounting.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent relevant experience required.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience required; 1–2 years of managerial experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Innovative and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues independently in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Duties are performed in a typical office environment while at a desk or computer table.
- Duties require the ability to use a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material in a quiet and professional setting.
- Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
