Overview

The Surgery and Outpatient Scheduling Manager is responsible for coordination and oversight of the Horizon Surgical Manager and Pathways Healthcare Scheduling Systems. This position is highly technical in nature, requiring an extensive knowledge of clinical protocols related to surgery and outpatient services scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the efforts of all Perioperative Departments in the use of the Horizon Surgical Manager system, including master file maintenance, training of end-users, troubleshooting, and programming of custom reports.
• Coordinate the efforts of all outpatient departments who rely on the Pathways Healthcare Scheduling system for their daily scheduling and efficient processing of patients through The Alliance.
• Handle the human element of coordinating schedulers in the Perioperative and outpatient areas in a cost-effective manner, while maintaining positive patient satisfaction.
• Directly supervise two Perioperative Services areas and lead workers for all schedulers in the Heart Institute, Pulmonary Function, Radiology, Outpatient Oncology, and Rehab Services.
• Coordinate interactions with Materials Management for surgical supply inventory and with the Clinical Information Systems and Patient Financial Services Departments for patient charging.
• Ensure compliance with Local Medical Review Policies for Medicare reimbursement.
• Manage the integration of computer systems, including medical necessity checking at the time of scheduling.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree – required; Master’s Degree strongly preferred.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must have current Florida Nursing License.
• Professional Certification: Must be certified by a national organization.
• Experience: Minimum of two years professional nursing practice experience required; prior management experience preferred.
• Special Skills: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
